Goodbye butterflies

We did such a good job of looking after the butterflies, they were strong enough to leave today.
It was such a lovely warm, sunny morning, so we let them go. At first they didn't leave the house but with a little bit of coaxing, they soon flew off into the nearby grass.

They look delicious!

The potatoes are in the pot boiling up, ready for a feast tomorrow.
I promise I won't eat them all.

Will you have butter or salad cream with yours?

Potatoes

We harvested the potatoes we've been growing since March today. We counted 42 potatoes in total from our two bags. I will boil them tonight and you can eat them tomorrow!

Butterfly news

As of this morning, two butterflies have emerged from their chrysalis. It was so exciting to see them. They have some food in their house and we will release them when they're strong enough to fly.

Gold Book

Congratulations to Robbie and Elisia

I have chosen Robbie this week because of his excellent motivation. On Monday he planned and organised an outdoor shop for everyone in FS2 to enjoy. Thank you Robbie.

Elisia continues to be one of my busy bees in class. She always has a go at new things on offer and has such a great attitude to learning. Keep it up Elisia

Here is the picture to talk about this week.

What can you see happening?

Can you write a super sentence about what is going on and bring it to school on Friday?

Football fun in FS2

A new piece of equipment was waiting for FS2 this morning - table football.
We also had a finger football game in the tray. Both were quite tricky but everyone had a really good try.

I will take more football photos over the week.

Trying to make giant bubbles

We tried making giant bubbles today with a recipe Mrs Warner found on the internet. After a long time of trying hard and persevering, we managed to make a whopper!!!!

Our growing patch

We are growing potatoes and strawberries, look how well they are doing!

Making caterpillars and butterflies

We have been reading the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Here are our crawling caterpillars and beautiful butterflies.

Gold Book

Congratulations to Mason and Joseph

Mason is in the Gold Book because he is such a well behaved member of FS2. I can trust him to do the right thing.

Joseph is a motivated learner and always works hard to complete the challenges on his card. Well done Joseph, keep it up.

Big Talk

I would like you to talk about our caterpillars and tell your grown up what has happened since we started looking after them two weeks ago.
Here is a picture of how they look right now.

Can you remember what stage of development this is? What will happen next?

Fine motor control activity - sort the butterflies and ladybirds in a minute!!

In one minute, sort the ladybirds and butterflies. How many will be left over?

Exciting news!

Our caterpillars are now at the chrysalis stage of development. Over several more days they will emerge as butterflies and will be released into the wild.

Here is a close up of them.

I'll keep you updated on their progress.

Save the date!! FS2 fundraising event

On Monday 7th July at 9am, FS2 will be holding a fundraising event.
The money raised will go towards developing our outdoor classroom and buying more equipment to use creatively in class.

FS1 have recently held a very successful Toddler Toddle on the school field. We intend to use the same space with the addition of obstacles the children have to negotiate.

The children can be sponsored for the amount of laps they do, or for a fixed amount.

We would love it if you could join us and assist your child as they move around the course.
Let us know if you are unable to attend.

Thank you as always for your fantastic support,

Mrs Warner, Mrs Frisby and Mrs Horn

I wonder if our caterpillars are still eating?
See you tomorrow

Our week

This was the final week of Frozen fun. We've been building Elsa's Castle using foam cups, exploring ice in the water tray, making art on tiles, then taking a photo of it. In literacy time we've been writing speech bubbles for the characters and in maths we've been finding ways to make 10 snowballs.

Here are lots of lovely photographs

We said goodbye to the tadpoles today. Some are now froglets and have back and front legs, they've been returned to the school pond.

Thank you for a lovely week and I look forward to reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Gold Book

Congratulations to Tallulah and Lewis

Tallulah is in the Gold Book this week because of her excellent attitude towards learning. She always keeps herself busy in class. She has recently been enjoying dancing to Mamma Mia!!

Lewis continues to work hard when he is at school. He is always on the look out to find new things to do and when he tries anything, it's always with 100% effort.

Big Talk

Here is the image we will be talking about. It's from Disney's Gallery of Frozen.

Talk about the film and what is happening here.

Do you think this is from the beginning, middle or end of the film?
How can you tell?
Explain your ideas.

More 'Frozen' fun today

Today we've been building with different resources. Inspired by Elsa's ice castle we have in class, we had a go at creating a castle using foam cups.

Here is a photo collage of the beautiful construction.
